Summary
NoS Summary - Lifeboats are repaired and equipped with new ropes and sails.
British Pathe synopsis: "Lifeboats have their own "hospital" where the damage caused by the ravages of the sea is made good." High angle of docks. A lifeboat is lifted onto the quayside by a crane. "What tales of heroism the boat could tell..." High angle of the lifeboat on wheels being pulled along the quayside. "...as it is swung into the repair shed." Low angle of the lifeboat being moved into position. "Up in the riggers’ loft rope and sail-makers are busy." M/S of a workshop where men are hard at work. C/U of man weaving a rope. M/S of man sewing a sail. Various shots of men working with ropes etc. C/U of man in flat cap with lots of ropes around his shoulders - he smiles and laughs at the camera. "Then there’s the stores where everything from a lamp to a life belt can be supplied." L/S of men throwing things to each other in the stores. "Down in the equipping yard the gallant boat takes on a new lease of life." High angle of lifeboats - a sail is raised. Low angle of boats being moved around in the warehouse. One of the boats has the following inscription on the side: "R.N.L.B. L.P. and St Helen" - the boat from Liverpool and St Helens presumably. "A dip in the test tank..." C/U of a boat being lowered into a tank of water. Men lift oars into the boat. Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
