Summary
NoS Summary - Two sports are contrasted - mountaineering and speed boat racing.
British Pathe synopsis: "To some "getting there" is to reach the summit of Mt. Hood, the 11,000 feet trifle in Western America." L/S of large amount of climbers walking towards the camera. M/S of the walkers as they make their way up a snowy mountainside in single file. "The view (and the exercise) is the only reward for the sportsman -" Panning shot of the landscape under cloud. "Later on they’ll tell you how they climbed it - about this speed ..." Fast motion footage of the climbers seemingly rushing up the hillside. "Someone’s telling fibs," said our Cameraman. "This is how they did it!" Slightly slow footage of the climbers. "If you like the thrill of speedier sport, try racing the waves - " L/Ss of speedboats moving towards the camera. "From an airship you get a bird’s eye view - " Aerial shots of a harbour with lots of boats. "We hate to see anything get ahead of our Cameraman, so here goes - a two-mile a minute seaplane idea of the sportsmen below - " Seaplane follows two speedboats, catching up with them. As the plane passes over the top of one, a man in the boat waves. Other shots of the speedboats racing around a buoy from the plane.
