Summary
British Pathe synopsis: Map showing the location of Tahiti. A line is drawn from San Francisco to the islands. C/U of two native girls having a swim. Just their heads are seen above the water - they smile. They stand up in the shallow water, they wear dresses or sarongs. C/U of some younger children on the island picking large flowers. M/S of the four youngsters playing by the water’s edge. They do a dance. "Sun drenched islands, land of "easy time" in the Southern Seas -" Various shots of holidaymakers dressed in suits and boaters in what is obviously very hot weather. They sit at tables by the water and look out to sea. M/S of two men singing, one plays a small guitar. "Coconut trees everywhere - and the native "boys" are experts in climbing them." Scenic shot of palm trees. Camera follows a man as he climbs a tree. Another man shins up at great speed, we then see him coming down again. Scenic shot of a group of children paddling in a shallow lake surrounded by palm trees. "Faa, another islet, is reached by merely wading across - a little aquatic stroll." M/S of a group of local men wearing shorts and shirts wading across the water. "Sleeping, singing and dancing form the chief "occupations" of the inhabitants." Moving shot of locals sitting in the shade having lunch. Various shots of the villagers and their surroundings.
