- NoS Summary - women cross-country runners compared to their African sisters.
NoS synopsis: "Down in Essex, when the girls get that "do do something" feeling, they take to running - and all the preliminaries." M/S of group of girls in sportswear sitting on the ground and rubbing their calves. A female trainer massages another woman’s legs. L/S of the girls still sitting down kicking their legs up and down in the air. L/S of the girls checking in for a race. "On the other hand, when the dusky Eves of Africa get the same feeling, they try and stir up a war dance - " L/S of large group of African tribes people doing a traditional dance. "Our fair-skinned ladies are more energetic - perhaps it’s the climate." L/S of the girls all standing in a row, they have their arms around each others’ shoulders and they jog. Dissolve to a closer view. L/S of the girls, they are in the countryside somewhere. "Queer thing, too, that in the tropics Eve is taking more to clothes - " High angle of an Eastern bazaar type setting. People wear yashmaks and carry parasols. M/S of people walking through a market. "Here, they’re short in "most everything" M/S of the cross country runners jogging towards the camera. M/S of some girls squeezing through a gate. Others jump over the fence. M/S of two men spectating as the girls run past. "But, the tropics have the last laugh - we can’t beat this."
