Summary
NoS Summary - Girls train to be sailors - French school aboard a boat.
British Pathe synopsis: Introductory intertitle reads: "Shades of Father Neptune - a floating school for training lady-sailors! (Now tell us Sailors don’t care!)" L/S of 7 girls dressed in nautical outfits - white sailor tops, white trousers rolled up to the knee and jaunty hats. They are sitting on the boom. They all shuffle along and some jump off. L/S of the same girls climbing up rigging. "Real climbers - not social climbers - are these French pupils - " M/S of girls climbing up fixed rigging. Camera tilts up to follow them. Low angle shots of the girls clambering about the ship. C/U of one of the girls as she takes off her cap and laughs. High angle shot of girls working on deck as the boat moves out of the harbour. "The training ship "Alcyon" is the same type as the Newfoundland fishing boats, and practical experience is given the girls at sea." L/S of the boat sailing beside a jetty with a large municipal building in the background. M/S of two girls at the wheel of the boat.
