Summary
British Pathe synopsis: Fairgrounds in Barnet and Nottingham are featured in this story. M/S of fairground ride with people milling around in front of it. The ride spins around and turns on its side slightly. M/S of people climbing on and off the ride. "Roundabouts - Flying Chairs - or Swings - Eve’s there every time." C/U of a train ride moving towards the camera. C/U of the ornate carriages as they pass the camera. L/S of a large turning ride with suspended swings. Closer view of some of the riders as they are swung out as the ride revolves. C/U of two women riding on a model of a pig. They smile and laugh at the camera. Shot of women and child having fun on a galloping horses ride. Shot by a cameraman actually on the ride as it is turning around. Low angle shot of two women on a swing boat. C/U of three women eating ice cream. Camera follows three girls having a donkey ride. Low angle shot of the caterpillar ride. Closer shot from above the ride as it moves around. Girls ride on a peacock on a galloping horses style ride. C/U of the girls in their summer dresses and cloche hats. C/U of group of girls looking out at the camera through netting which moves from side to side. A shot from further away reveals that they are riding a swinging boat style ride. (Fare 2D) M/S of a group of people with a helter skelter and the swinging boat in the background. C/U of a woman who turns to the camera and smiles. Another girl shuffles up to her and puts her legs around the first girls waist. They are at the top of the helter skelter. Point of view shot as the cameraman follows the girls down the slide. Another shot from in front of the girls this time. Various shots of girls coming down the helter skelter. The girls hang on to their skirts in a vain attempt to prevent the cameraman getting a look at their knickers! C/U of girl’s legs as she slides down. C/U of girls getting to the bottom of the slide. The girls fall off at the bottom - laughing.
