Summary
British Pathe synopsis: Miss Betty Nuthall the tennis player is featured in C/U. We then see various shots of her in her garden pruning a tree, digging etc. We then see her in her kitchen standing by the stove stirring something in a saucepan. L/S of Betty and two friends sitting outside having afternoon tea. A tennis racket is propped up against one of the chairs and they are all wearing white as if about to go off for a game. C/U of one of the women pouring tea, the other drinking a cup. "Notwithstanding her youth ("Betty" is only 16) nobody is more thorough or painstaking in training. One of her ways to increase sureness of footing and speed - " We see Betty in the garden running backwards and forwards picking up tennis balls. We then see her practising shots by hitting the ball up against a wall which has a white line painted on it. We see Betty’s serving technique in slow motion from various angles. Betty has a knock about game with another woman. Various shots of the game at normal speed then in slow motion. L/S of a family group. Betty with her brother and sisters, dog and cats.
