Summary
NoS Summary - Comedian Davy Burnaby tries to put an aerial up on the roof of his house.
British Pathe synopsis: "Allow us, Ladies and Gentlemen, to introduce - " M/S of a rooftop - a man emerges from a trapdoor in the roof. He is quite a large man and makes a meal out of hauling himself onto the roof. "Yes, this is Mr Burnaby and his job at the time of filming was fixing an aerial." M/S of Davy Burnaby on the roof grappling with a pole. The reel of aerial wire rolls around on the roof. "Aerials! Oh! ‘Ow I ‘ates ‘em!" said Davy." Various funny business on the roof as Davy tries to get the aerial up. He laughs and smiles and winks at the camera. "Ha! Ha! Didn’t think I could get it up so soon, did you?" He puffs out his cheeks and looks tired. "Of course, such things as fixing aerials must not interfere with Davy’s domestic duties." High angle shot of Davy tucking two young girls into a pram. He tips his hat to the camera. C/U of the girls. Davy shuffles off, nodding his head. "A very dutiful husband", you will say. Yes, but it’s a bit awkward when he returns late and has about two minutes in which to get to the theatre." Fast motion footage of Davy rushing to say goodbye to his wife and get to the theatre. Lots of people run up and down the stairs to his house and carry things to the car.
