British Pathe synopsis: "Where, downstairs, the famous floor echoes to the gliding steps of the dancers." M/S of revellers seated at round tables. M/S of the three piece band. M/S of a group laughing at a table. L/S high angle of the dance floor. Couples in evening dress dance. "Then midnight - and the arrival of "the girls." Six girls do a dance routine in short skirts. Dance involves high kicks. "Many of us remember Fred Emney and his "Sister to assist her." Here’s Joan - his daughter." Woman in an old fashioned dress and white wig sings. "The Daly Sisters struck a new note on their banjos - and the way they danced with them." Two long haired girls dance with banjos held aloft. They do one handed cartwheels then strum their banjos. "And "The Three Equals" showed what trained strength can do - " three men in white vests and tights perform an acrobatics routine - one man can hold aloft the two others. Punters sitting at tables are seen in the foreground. "Ever noticed the concentrated athletics of the modern eccentric dancer", said Edwin Henderson." A comedy dance routine ensues with Edwin doing all sorts of acrobatics and rolling around on the floor - a forerunner to break dancing with all his floor spins! "And dainty Iris Whyte demonstrated her energetic style" - Iris dances a routine involving high kicks and acrobatics. "Iris was travlling so fast we had to slow her down a bit -". We see some of her dance in slow motion. She wears frilly bloomers which we see a lot of. "Then the girls appeared again in song and dance and told the world (and the diners) they were "Heading for Louisville"." The chorus girls do their routine. High kicks, leg twiddling, jumping around, spinning etc. ""Musty the Mysterious" just couldn’t tie that knot in his handkerchief. (the more you watch him, the less you see!)" He does so. "Then Gerardo and Adair danced into our view." Gerardo and Adair dance for the diners. "The girl and the whirl - and some whirl, too!" The dance involves lifts and spins - Adair manhandling Gerardo and spinning her around his head. - Researcher Comments
