Summary
Pathe Intertitles - "Long before Adonis went to the trouble (and expense) of buying Eve that sweet diamond engagement ring, a lot of thought was being given to some rough-looking stones -"
"A "diamond in the rough" has a long way to go, before it becomes the familiar faceted stone. An expert must mark it for cutting -"
"Then the stone is set in cement so that it may be handled."
"If the stone is to be split with the grain, a hand "knife" does the trick."
"If it is to be cut against the grain, a phosphor-bronze disc is used."
"After the diamond has been cut, the facets are polished on a rapidly revolving disc, coated with a paste of diamond dust."
"A comparison of rough and cut stones and a close-up of a 4 1/2 carat cut stone tell the story of Adam’s work for Eve’s adornment -"
