Summary
NoS Summary - Dorothy Dickson, Leslie Henson and Heather Thatcher in The Beauty Prize.
British Pathe synopsis: Scenes from the play "The Beauty Prize" staged at the Winter Garden Theatre in London. Carol Stuart, who is played by Dorothy Dickson, has eight strings to her bow and eight beaux to her string! Eight men kneel on the stage whilst Carol dances for them. The men hold each others’ hips and walk backwards whilst Carol at the front does high kicks. "Odo Philpotts played by Leslie Henson sheds a little sporting outfit on arrival at the ship." M/S of Leslie Henson against a painted backdrop in a bizarre fisherman’s outfit. Some girls look at him with admiration. He looks around and a man in a smart naval uniform comes and assists him, taking his fishing net, life-bouy and outer garments. Leslie Henson takes off many, many layers of clothing then does a funny hornpipe type dance. Lovey Toots is played by Heather Thatcher. She and Leslie perform a comedy routine tied together at the ankle, a kind of three legged dance. They then have a mock fight which ends with Heather putting her arms around Leslie and kissing him. Most of the action staged in L/S.
