Story

Summary
NoS Summary - Scenes from "Fun of the Fayre" starring Evelyn Laye and Trini.
British Pathe synopsis: The setting for this theatrical performance is Bartholomew Fair and Miss Evelyn Laye plays Nell Gwynne. She dances in a circle of dancers dressed in 17th Century costume. They dance a Minuet. The chorus tiptoe around because they are scared of "Bogeys". Three men with large masks on sticks come on to the stage and scare the chorus. An enormous mirror has been constructed on stage through which various women appear. "Trini" the famous Spanish Beauty emerges from "The Mirror of the Fayre" as does a woman in an exotic beaded costume. A Spanish Flamenco is danced. Then a "Jockey dance" - a man in a Jockey’s outfit dances with a ballerina. Some of the female cast are dressed as Jockeys too. The man jumps through a hoop of paper. They also dance the "Pony Trot". Chorus girls dance like ponies.
Researcher Comments
British Pathe - Fun of the Fayre was a C.B. Cochran production. According to his autobiography the Dolly Sisters led the pony trot with Clifton Webb. The men with masks are almost certainly the Fratellini brothers.
