Summary
COI synopsis: With the policy of bringing the classics to the people at prices anyone could afford, The Old Vic Theatre Company built up a reputation that made it internationally famous. It was disbanded in 1963 when the National Theatre opened but now a new Old Vic Company has been formed and Vicki Luke has joined them, not as a reporter but as an actress. The new company continues the tradition of the old by bringing the classics to the people - in places as far afield as Scandinavia, Australia - and China.
Researcher Comments
Filmed in the Old Vic Theatre on near London’s Waterloo Station. Includes interviews with Toby Robertson, the director of the new Old Vic Company and actor, Derek Jacobi. The Company was preparing for a tour of Japan, China and Australia. NB: Information drawn from the Australian version
