- Summary
- COI synopsis: It wasn’t unusual in the 30s and 40s for big band players to spend half their life on a coach travelling from one night stand to one night stand - not such a common sight anymore but Britain’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra is reviving the old life style of the great jazz masters. They’re mostly teenagers, remarkably talented, who come from all over the country to make music together. Maggie Palmer listens to what they’ve got to offer the jazz world.
- Researcher Comments
- Includes an interview with Bill Ashton, the band’s founder and conductor. NB: Information drawn from the Australian version.
