Summary
COI synopsis: This year as part of her silver jubilee celebrations Queen Elizabeth II reviewed more than 150 ships; the British fleet and merchant vessels from all over the world. Diana MacLean was there, on board Her Majesty’s Australian Ship Melbourne, a 20,000 ton aircraft carrier which has made a 13,000 mile sea voyage to be there. Royal reviews of the fleet are great historic occasions which date back more than 2000 years. This Week In Britain traces some of that history from the days of the Romans...the age of wooden sailing ships right up to the present day and the sophisticated technology of a modern navy. The film includes historical background and rare archive film from the turn of the century.
