- Summary
- COI synopsis: All pedigree horses - bloodstock - derive from three Arab stallions brought over to Britain in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The cross between the Arab, which had all the virtues except size, and the bigger horses native to Britain produced the race horse as we know it today. In fact, any admixture of Arab blood always improves the stock. Diana MacLean visited an Arab stud farm in the south of England to see some of these extremely valuable and beautiful animals - all Arabian, though some nine generations away from their desert origins.
- Researcher Comments
- Visits Harwood Arabian Stud, and includes an interview with its owner, Mrs Calvert. Uses a mixture of original and library footage. NB: Information drawn from the Australian version. ‘London Line, No. 536A’ has footage from this film.
