Summary
COI synopsis: All pedigree horses - bloodstock - derive from three Arab stallions brought over to Britain in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The cross between the Arab, which had all the virtues except size, and the bigger horses native to Britain produced the race horse as we know it today. In fact, any admixture of Arab blood always improves the stock. Diana MacLean visited an Arab stud farm in the south of England to see some of these extremely valuable and beautiful animals - all Arabian, though some nine generations away from their desert origins.
