Summary
COI synopsis: Senses, for tasting; touching; seeing. Senses for survival. This programme looks at the significance of our new understanding of sense mechanisms - in man, animal and machine. Researchers at Birkbeck College, London, are studying the electrical signals transmitted from the locust’s taste sensors to its brain. They hope to learn what locusts do and don’t like to eat - and perhaps how to avert the devastation of a locust plague.
