Summary
COI synopsis: A concept that’s blossomed in one field will often take root in another - a form of cross-fertilisation which makes the most of a good idea. This issue looks at a few such good ideas which have crossed a technological boundary. Techniques developed for maintaining sterile conditions during surgery are now finding a completely different application. Chickens raised in a sterile environment grow faster - and without the possibly dangerous use of antibiotics.
