- Summary
- COI synopsis: This issue looks at a few new ways of managing the increasingly complex problems of modern life. Computer simulations, for instance, show how to cope with the complexity of planning a modern airport and designing a motorway: but coping with complexity doesn’t always involve computers... Coping with the complexities of unusual terrain led to the design by the British Army of a new and ingenious bulldozer. Now it’s proving its worth as a civilian emergency vehicle, able to get through even if it has to swim, excavate and lay its own road, winch itself up a slope or fire off a rescue rocket.
