Summary
COI synopsis: Charcoal is very efficient at removing waste material from the blood, and the development of a special polymer coating has made it safe for use in artificial kidney or dialysis machines. Patients who have had to attach themselves to conventional machines for up to thirty hours a week can look forward to much shorter and simpler dialysis sessions in future on a charcoal based machine.
