Summary
COI synopsis: As trains go faster, freight wagons are more liable to develop "hot boxes" through lack of lubrication. British Rail scientists have succeeded in intergrating carbon fibre with the metal of the bearing to make them self lubricating. It’s a technique with far-reaching implications in the metallurgical industry.
