Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Anzio Landings Anniversary. DESCRIPTION: Thirty five years ago the Allied Forces landed at Anzio to begin the push towards Rome. During the Battle, Fusilier Christopher Hayes found and befriended a six year old orphaned girl, Angelita Rossi. For nine days Angelita was cared for by British soldiers and then she was killed by shrapnel. In this, the International Year of the Child, a statue of Angelita is unveiled at Anzio, as a memorial to all who perished in the Battle and Mr Hayes was present at the ceremony. With archive film we remember the Beach Head at Anzio and those who lie in the surrounding cemeteries. SHOTLIST: CU model of Anzio landing. Ditto.
