Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Motor Cycle British Grand Prix. DESCRIPTION: Wet weather also caused difficulties at the British Motor Cycle Grand Prix at Silverstone. This race was part of the World Championship and reigning Champion Barry Sheene needed to win to have any chance of regaining the title. However, it was not to be when Kenny Roberts of the USA crossed the line as winner. SHOTLIST: GV people around pits etc. CS Suzuki motor bike. CS Yamaha bike. MCS Dennis Ireland on his Suzuki No 21. MCS Barry Sheene on his Suzuki No 7. CS Sheene. MCS Johnny Ceccotto talking. CS Ceccotto. MCS No 13 leaves pits, MCS Nos 6 & 7 ditto. GV bikes line up on grid. MCS No 32 on grid. CS Sheene on grid. CS John Williams (No 16). MCS Ceccotto on grid. GV riders waiting for start. Ditto. CS starting lights. GV pan start. MCS spectators. GV bikes round bend, camera tracks with them. MCS bikes past. Various of race to finish - scoreboard - camera pans showing 1st No 1 Kenny Roberts of USA, 2nd - Steve Manship of GB, 3rd Barry Sheene of GB. GV crowd in stand. MS finishing line - winners through. GV crowd. MCS Roberts on stand shaking his head, next to him is Manship. 2 shots Roberts turns his head and walks away, (NB there was some argument over winner and it wasn’t decided that Roberts was the winner until some hours later). People watching. CS Roberts holds up cup. Photographers. MCS Roberts holding up cup. Also in the race was Michele Rougerie, Steve Parrish, Steve Baker, Will Hartog.
