Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Dragster Attempt. DESCRIPTION: A rocket car has a go at the world speed record of 311.14 mph at Castlereagh Drag Strip in Australia. The car, belching out smoke, screams down the quarter mile strip, but only reaches 256 mph. SHOTLIST: CU badge on back of overalls Courage of Australia land speed record team. BV dragster pan to mechanic checking tyre. MS mechanics round dragster. MS people watching. MS man sitting in driver’s seat pan to mechanics working on engine. CU ditto. MCU side of dragster Courage of Australia. MS pan down flashing light - dragster start as light reaches bottom (ordinary drag race). LS pan dragster down strip. CU back of dragster as engine fires. MS pan dragster starts off & burns down strip. LS pan dragster smokes up to end of run.
