Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ascot. DESCRIPTION: You didn’t need sunglasses at this year’s Royal Ascot meeting, but there was still plenty of fashion fun on the opening day in spite of the rain and bitter winds. Favourite Rock Roi stormed away at the final turn in the £16,000 Gold Cup to snatch a brilliant win. SHOTLIST: SV towards 2 girls wearing Union Jack hot pants. GV crowd. SV man & woman. SV pan Mrs Shilling in huge hat. SV Raymond (Teazy Weazy) in pink suit. SV Sir Gordon Richards. GV horses round paddock. SV No 10 Random Shot. SV Queen’s horse Charlton No 1. SV Joe Mercer bowing to Queen. GV horses leave paddock. GV crowd leave paddock. CU pan No 12 Yellow River with Lester Piggott. CU pan No 1 Charlton. SV pan down the straight with No 7 King of the Castle, in lead followed by Yellow River & No 6. AV as they race down straight first time. No 7. CU man. Pan race onto country with No 7 in lead. SV pan horses round bend (home run) with Orosio (No 9) in lead, No 11 Rock Roi neck and neck - No 11 in lead. GV as Rock Roi races down to post followed by Random Shot, Rock Roi passes at 174’. SV horses into enclosure. SV horse - Rock Roi.
