MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: International Athletics. DESCRIPTION: Victory by one single point - but victory all the same for Britain’s Women Athletes against America, the strongest opposition in the world. Some consolation for our defeat in the Men’s events - the world’s fastest 5,000 Metres this season by Britain’s Dick Taylor and a great 400 Metres Hurdles win by John Sherwood. SHOTLIST: GV White City. Start of 400 metres mens hurdles. SV two Americans in the lead closely followed by No 2, John Sherwood, who lunges forward to win. CU John Sherwood. GV the 5,000 metres for men in it’s final stages, Englishmen Taylor and Steward on their own. SV Taylor. SV pan as Taylor runs round bend into back straight.
