- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Great Air Race. DESCRIPTION: To mark the fiftieth Anniversary of the first non-stop Atlantic Crossing, the Daily Mail announces a Great Air Race to be held next year. Movietone recalls that other Anniversary Race between London and Paris in 1959. SHOTLIST: Pan down statue of Alcock and Brown. LS presentation of 1959 Daily Mail Air Race trophy. GV the Post Office Tower - London. LS ditto. Aerial shot over New York. GV the Empire State Building - New York. Pan the Concorde at Toulouse. MS ditto. LS BEA Syndicate boarding plane during London-Paris Air Race. CU Colette Duval putting on helmet. LS Colette gets out of plane in France and runs to helicopter - it then takes off. MLS Commander Walker gets from helicopter to motor-boat - pan as motor-boat passes camera - he then goes by winch to shore. CU Group Captain Ryder gets off motor-bike on Thames Embankment. MS Group Captain Ryder slides down poles and runs to helicopter - it then takes off. MCU Squadron Leader Maughan clocks in at check-point in France. CU motor-bike engine starts up. MS Squadron Leader Maughan drives off from check-point. MS Squadron Leader Maughan receives award from Lord Rothermere.
