Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Beating the Bulge. DESCRIPTION: Bradford has a problem - a bulge in the number of children starting school. A prefabricated factory - finished classroom section is to be erected on previously built piers. They can be assembled in minutes by four men and a crane. Ten schools will have these extensions installed which will increase classroom space and accommodate an extra thousand children. SHOTLIST: Key scene. CU sign Stop Children. Pan to school. MS children playing in school playground. MS ditto. GV interior classroom. MS coloured girl carrying tray to table. CU foreign boy eating meal. CU football, pan as boy kicks ball. LS lorry arrives at school carrying pre-fabricated buildings. MS foundation blocks of new buildings. MLS crane lifting pre-fabricated building. MS crane driver. MLS building lowered onto foundation. MS ditto. MLS roof of building raised and walls are moved into place. MS walls bolted into place. MCU roof section bolted into place. MS boards put into gap between sections. GV interior classroom.
