Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lightening the Load. DESCRIPTION: The Mechanical Engineering department of Queensland University, Australia, have developed a hover-trailer, powered by a six horse power motor. When the air cushion is built up beneath it, the hover-trailer will lift nearly 3 hundred weight. Its development follows a request from the Queensland sugar industry to find an alternative to wheeled vehicles. SHOTLIST: LS pan hover trailer being towed by car. MS man turns off motor to hover trailer and it sinks to ground. MLS four men trying to pull trailer. MLS engine is started and the trailer rises on cushion of air. MLS man pulling trailer over grass. MLS trailer pushed into water and rises on cushion of air. Pan trailer pulled back onto land. LS pan trailer being pulled along road.
