MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Launch That Nearly Wasn’t. DESCRIPTION: Pictures show the Indian motor ship Rukmavati being launched with Hindu ritual from the Clyde shipyard of Ferguson Brothers. She’s the first of four vessels costing more than £5 million to be built here for Indian coastal traffic. SHOTLIST: MLS long view of ship’s bow. CU ship’s name Rukmavati. LS pan bow to stern of vessel on slipway. MLS Mrs Mehta paints in a reversed type of swastika. MS garlanded spectators watching. MS Mrs Mehta throws coconut 3 times.
