MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: After Khrushchev?. DESCRIPTION: Mr Khrushchev’s resignation has stolen much of the limelight from Britain’s battle for political power. As Prime Minister and First Secretary of the Communist Party, he was responsible both for negotiation with Western leaders and for the domestic problems of the Soviet Union. He has been undisputed ruler of Russia since March 1958. Increasing age and failing health are said to be the reasons for his retirement.
