Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Test for Tokyo Hopes. DESCRIPTION: The three day event at Burghley, Lincolnshire, featured some of our Olympic horses and riders. Four riders and five horses had still to be selected for Tokyo from the short list appearing at Burghley. Also we can expect strong competition from the Australians, pictures show them training at Brisbane. On its way to Tokyo the Olympic flame arrives in Hong Kong. But the flame wasn’t the only visitor. Typhoon Ruby was hot on its heels. 7 1/2 inches of rain fell. The winds reached 120 knots and three hundred people were injured. Twenty four died. However the Olympic flame still burned strongly having survived the hurricane. SHOTLIST: Burghley - Key scene. LS pan rider past camera.
