- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News in Cinemascope Cowes Week (In Colour). DESCRIPTION: The first Cowes Week was held in 1826 - between members of the Royal Yacht Squadron. Today it is one of the main yachting events of the year. Cowes Week actually lasts nine days, and the regatta offers something for everybody and every class of boat. From the big cruisers of up to sixty feet, to the humblest dinghy. Prince Philip was to introduce Princess Anne to his favourite sport, we photographed them on board Bloodhound. They were about to race for the Britannia Challenge Cup, one of the biggest events of the week. But it was rather tame for the Princess. Virtually no wind at all for seven hours! There are over a hundred and fifty races during the week and almost seven hundred yachts. SHOTLIST: Main Title and News in Cinemascope. GV Shamford (now Cowes). GV pan same.
