Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Aintree to Close?. DESCRIPTION: Aintree is to close down. The World’s greatest race-course is to be sold to a Property Development Company. This was the bombshell exploded on the sporting world by Mrs Mirabelle Topham, who has turned the Grand National into a limited company. Robbed of it’s natural environment, this unique steeplechase could never be the same again. Will the last Aintree Grand National be run in 1965? Mrs Topham says yes, but while the National Hunt Committee meet to discuss steps to oppose the sale, a glimmer of hope remains. If one tradition is fading, another of the same vintage continues.
