- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News Events - in Colour. DESCRIPTION: The Annual Chelsea Show has been held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital since 1913. Whether specialist or amateur, Chelsea always delights and fascinates. Harry Wheatcroft always comes up with something new in roses, and there is also a new one for Samuel McCredy called Elizabeth of Glamis, named after the Queen Mother. Over to Canada and the Dale Estate near Ontario, the worlds largest greenhouse producer of cut flowers and plants. It started 90 years ago when Henry Dale planted a rosebush in his grandfather’s greenhouse, previously used only for vegetables. From that bush has blossomed 27 acres of glasshouses with some 27 varieties of flowers. They sell around 15 million blooms to florists throughout Canada, a result of efficiency and automation.
