- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Trouble in the Pipes. DESCRIPTION: Portable generators are bringing a very effective answer to frozen pipes. London’s Metropolitan Water Board claim that this particular method avoids the risk of fire. While one lead is attached to the tap in the house, the other is fixed to the Mains outside. Then, start the generator. The secret is a current flow of low voltage but high amperage. Gas pipes which are often fractured by the movement of frozen ground resulted in a number of people dying from gas poisoning this Winter. They’re experimenting with plastic pipes and where necessary, replacing old cast-iron ones with ductile iron pipes. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS lorry arrives trailing generator.
