Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Smog Menace. DESCRIPTION: The smog has brought many businesses to a standstill, but at atmospheric sampling stations, they’ve had a very busy time. They’re measuring the sulphur-dioxide and soot content of the air in Central London. The threat was as grave to health as it was in ‘52 when 4,000 people died in the Great Smog. The amount of soot taken in by one person in a day would cover a threepenny bit. SHOTLIST: Key scene. Zoom in test tube. CU woman. CU test tube bubbling, smog recorded on tape (3 shots). CU smog on paper. CU woman, smog from test tubes onto paper (2 shots). CU smog the size of a threepenny bit.
