- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Labour Gathering. DESCRIPTION: Brighton was this year’s choice for the Labour Party Conference, and, as usual, pressure groups were very much in evidence. But it seems, as far as this conference is concerned, that nuclear disarmament will be taking a back seat. Nevertheless, Mrs Stevenson from Edinburgh collected signatures. Among leading personalities: party leader Hugh Gaitskell and his wife, Mr Harold Wilson, and Mr George Brown, deputy leader. One of the subjects of interest: Britain’s entry into the Common Market. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV Brighton Pier. CU sign Labour Party Conference. (3 shots) Ban the Bomb marchers. MCU Mrs Stevenson collecting signatures. (2 shots) Mr Stevenson talking. MS crowd applaud. MS Mr Gaitskell and Mrs Gaitskell. MS Mr Harold Wilson and family. (2 shots) Mr Gaitskell and Mr George Brown. (3 shots) Brighton Ice Rink. GV George Brown looks through telescope.
