- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News for Motorists. DESCRIPTION: After 3 years of research, an anti-locking device has been developed. Set between transmission and rear brakes, braking pressure is brought into line with the car’s speed of deceleration. (It has much the same effect as alternately pressing and releasing the foot brake). It’s good news for the motorist. Not so good is news of the M1. Britain’s first motorway cost more than £28 million to build. Now comes news of a repair bill, estimated at a further 1 million!
