MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tragedy in the Air. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the Red Sales, pride of the Royal Australian Air Force, performing high speed aerobatics in close formation. But disaster struck, 4 Vampire jets were wrecked and 6 men met their death, when they prepared for Australia’s Air Force Week Celebrations. This was Australia’s first multiple crash in peace time, but Movietone recalls historic pictures of a similar disaster which occurred during wartime exercises off Jervis Bay. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
