They had to choose a day when there was virtually no wind, and the right moment came early in the morning of Britain’s first real Spring day. The job was completed in about 10 minutes. SHOTLIST: An RAF Belvedere helicopter lowers the spire onto the Cathedral. The spire is 80’ high and weighs over 3,000 lbs. Final shot of cross which is to go on top of the spire.
