Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Grand National (In Colour). DESCRIPTION: The National is a thriller. Anyone who’s been to Aintree knows that. For one thing, there is the thrill of losing or making money, and there’s a perfectly good prospect of doing either. Our pictures show typical scenes at Aintree before this year’s race, the richest on record, over twenty thousand pounds for the winner. Mrs Topham, the Queen of Aintree, was there, of-course. And Field Marshal Lord Harding, one of the distinguished guests. After an exciting race it was Kilmore, who came home first. What a magnificent win, and a second National win for the great rider, Fred Winter! Wyndburgh was second, and Mr What (once a winner) third. SHOTLIST: Key scene. Spectators. Crowd. Bookie. Ditto.
