- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Berlin in the Balance. DESCRIPTION: Tension in Berlin, already threatened by approaching crisis, has been increased by East German restriction on movement between the sectors, and the Brandenburg Gate has been closed. The barricades go up, and armed units of the East German police have been progressively sealing off their sector, to halt the continuing flow of refugees to the West. In the Western sectors, demonstrations have been held to protest against the communist action. In order to prevent the chance of a clash, West Berlin police have been busy, controlling crowds on their side of the city. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS Brandenburg Gate.
