- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Road to Safety. DESCRIPTION: The question is - why does one car pull up quicker than the other in this experiment? The answer is in the tyres. Both cars apply their brakes at the same instant, but the second car (using the special tread rubber) beats the one with ordinary tyres every time. Lord Hailsham, Minister for Science, was present, when a car gave a demonstration, fitted with two coils in front, and a small electronic unit in the back. There’s a guide wire buried in the road. Another demonstration, here at the Road Research track in Berkshire, also made use of the guide-wire. This time, the car actually steered itself! A case of look, no hands. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
