Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Khrushchev in New York. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the Russian liner Baltica, steaming up river to New York, and accompanied by helicopters and coastguard vessels. The ship passed under Brooklyn Bridge on its way to Pier 73, which had been allotted as her berth: a dingy, grubby place that offers no welcome. To put it mildly, Mr Khrushchev doesn’t seem to have been welcome at all! He had chosen to attend the United Nations, he hadn’t been invited as a guest to America, so he may have been prepared for this kind of reception!. In spite of noisy interludes, Mr K was all smiles.
