Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: A Tricky Job. DESCRIPTION: This 26,000 ton floating dock, destined for the Niarchos Shipyard in Greece, had to be floated through the lock from the shipyard to the river Weser. It was a tricky job to get it through a space too narrow for it. But they solved the problem by giving it a very heavy list: thousands of tons of water ballast on one side lifted the other side clear. SHOTLIST: LS dry dock afloat. MS same - dock listing slightly. MS dock towed through lock by tugs. CU docks seen from angle with jetty and bollards. CU angle view of dock. Aerial shot - dock on tow. CU workmen. CU pan dock keel at angle. Man takes measurements. MS man walking on tilting dock deck. CU man wades through water back to dry deck. LS dock at angle.
