Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Chicago Goes Wild!. DESCRIPTION: Across the river from the skyscrapers of Detroit, Britannia was about to take the royal travellers from the Canadian town of Windsor on the voyage to Chicago. Here, at Windsor, Canada’s ovation to the Queen had spread over the water. Everyone who owned a motor-cruiser or a yacht was afloat to give a send-off. Meanwhile, Chicago was all set to offer such a welcome as would never be forgotten. The City’s famous Buckingham Fountain shot its plume skyward in greeting to the visitors aboard the royal yacht, and as the barge approached, the welcome grew louder and louder. Her Majesty was received by the Governor of Illinois and his wife. SHOTLIST: GV crowds & ‘Britannia’ (key). GV Detroit skyscrapers. GV ‘Britannia’ & crowds. MS Queen and Duke wave.
