- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Edinburgh - the Assembly. DESCRIPTION: The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland opened with a service at St Giles’ Cathedral. The Earl of Wemyss and March, the Queen’s representative as Lord High Commissioner, arrived and inspected the Guard of Honour, mounted by the Royal Highland Fusiliers. The Lord Lyon King of Arms, the Heralds and Pursuivants, headed the procession, in which the Lord Provost of Edinburgh was followed by the Lord Provost of Glasgow. Later, near the statue of John Knox, they moved to the Assembly Rooms, where the Lord High Commissioner made his address to the Kirk in Assembly. SHOTLIST: Marchpast in kilts (key).
