- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: ‘Southern Cross’ Wreckage. DESCRIPTION: One of the worst set-backs to early Australian commercial aviation was the disappearance of one of Sir Kingsford Smith’s fleet of 3-engined Fokkers, the Southern Cloud. On a flight to Melbourne in 1931, it completely vanished. They searched all along the route, in vain. Now, 27 years later, a worker has found the framework of the tail section of an aircraft. From the wreckage on the spot, it was established beyond doubt: this was the Southern Cloud. SHOTLIST: MS man pushes his way through undergrowth (key). Elevated shot old aircraft (Fokkers) fly over.
