Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cuban Grand Prix. DESCRIPTION: World Champion Juan Fangio was kidnapped from his Havana Hotel. His team members told the police how Fangio was carried off at gun point by Cuban rebels who wanted to sabotage the race. He was only released after it was over - after the horrible accident which cut short the Cuban Grand Prix. Cuban driver Garcia Cifuentes lost control and his car ripped into the crowd. Four people died immediately and over 30 injured. The race was stopped and Stirling Moss, who was leading, was awarded the Trophy. SHOTLIST: MS car & crowds. CU Fangio. MS hotel where kidnapping took place. Team members explain to police what happened. CU Fangio after release. GV start of race. Low angle racing. Pan shot racing. GV car down track.
